JobPurpose and Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled accurately, safely, and promptly, while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations and other services, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Complete inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership (put‑away, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.).
- Seek continual growth by expanding clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; voluntarily travel to stores as required.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing) where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status through state‑level training and license.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Collect, track, and document patient information for each applicable patient.
- Manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- Minimum age of 16 years if the board does not specify otherwise.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school or equivalency program if not specified.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Attention and focus for accurate prescription labeling and multitasking.
- Customer service and teamwork: friendly help, understanding patient reactions, and collaborative communication.
- Mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations.
- Problem resolution in challenging interactions.
- Physical demands: standing, lifting (up to 20 lbs), reaching, and repetitive finger use.
- Perform any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
- 1‑3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market as needed.
