Free Parking. Minimum pay for this position is $25.42 per hour.
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT II) is a testing personnel responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting of test results. The role performs only those tests authorized by the laboratory director, and requires a professional level of knowledge to accurately interpret results for patient diagnosis and treatment.
Essential Functions- After successful completion of orientation, training and competency assessment, follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are processed in the same manner as patient samples.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies; document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Follow the laboratory’s corrective action policies whenever test systems are out of established performance limits.
- Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting, or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, supervisor, clinical consultant or director.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Sciences or Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required. - Licenses and Credentials:
None specified; the role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance and repair; analytic techniques; ability to work independently, evaluate situations and act appropriately; multitask in a fast‑paced environment; attention to detail; communication with supervisors; teamwork; excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills.
