Responsibilities- Loads and unloads sheets of material onto the spools of the Intermediate Mill or plates and pucks onto the conveyor of the Meco Mill.
- Assists in the inspection of the material being rolled, measuring thickness and rolling width.
- Where applicable, inserts material protecting device during operation.
- Assists in roll changes and welds leader ends.
- Assist troubleshooting of equipment problems.
- Inspects material to ensure product adheres to specifications outlined by the production order and notifies the supervisor of any problems and/or material defects.
- Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintains high quality standards.
- Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition daily by following 5S standard work practices.
- High school or vocational degree or equivalent.
- Experience in a mill product or metal working manufacturing preferred.
- Follows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements, and follows environmental policies.
- Basic math skills required.
- Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).
- Good communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with some machining experience is a plus.
- May require the use of fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts and hand tools. Must obtain lockout/tagout certification.
- Must be capable of keeping neat and accurate records.
- Position requires direct contact on the manufacturing floor.
- Work time is spent in a factory environment where temperatures fluctuate.
$23.76–$29.35 per hour.
