The Forge Operator operates a 2,000‑Ton hydraulic press and manipulator to forge tantalum, niobium and alloy materials according to specific forging parameters.

First Shift: 6am – 2:30pm Monday through Friday.

• Set up the 2,000‑ton press and use the hydraulic manipulator to load tantalum and niobium billets to be forged according to forging schedules and dimensional requirements.
• Select, inspect and maintain forging dies to optimize throughput.
• Set up and operate PLC‑driven sawing equipment, horizontal and vertical saws to cut.
• Inspect and measure finished product, prepare product and paperwork for inter‑building shipping and record all processing information.
• Perform routine operator‑assigned preventive maintenance.
• Requires mechanical aptitude to accurately control and safely operate the hydraulic manipulator.
• Follow good safety practices, comply with PPE requirements and follow environmental policies.
• Must be able to understand specifications and use measuring instruments with assistance.
• Requires ability to recognize problems and seek assistance to resolve.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

• High School or Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required.
• 0‑2 years of related production experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic math skills required to perform necessary job functions.
• Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).
• Good communication skills, including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with machining experience is a plus.
• Requires use of fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts and hand tools. Must be capable of obtaining a fork truck license and/or overhead crane license and must obtain a lockout/tagout certification.

$29.99–$37.04 per hour. Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology under ITAR and EAR. The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., an asylee or refugee, a national of a non‑prohibited country (via letter of assurance), or a person approved for an export license.

Any job offer that requires an export license will be conditional on Materion’s determination of obtaining the license within a timeframe consistent with business requirements.
