Motor Equipment Repairperson; Mechanic

Performs skilled maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work on automotive and non-automotive equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems, and hoisting equipment.

• Fills out necessary paperwork and uses fleet software programs and applications to maintain records of all work performed
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, changes oil, greases chassis, inspects vehicle for safety and proper working conditions of parts
• Diagnoses and repairs all systems of Fleet vehicles and equipment for the City
• Uses specialized fleet software and tools to diagnose and repair vehicles
• Installs, repairs and adjusts two-way radio systems, microphones and antennas
• Prepares vehicles for state inspections, ensures compliance with regulations
• Performs State Inspections on all City vehicles
• Ensures personal and staff safety, and follows established safety precautions, and wears safety equipment as appropriate while performing duties
• Provides support and assistance, as needed, in snow and ice removal operations or other emergencies as declared by the City
• Ensures the safe and secure storage of hazardous waste and materials in compliance with state and federal regulations and maintains all pertinent records as required
• Performs similar or related duties as required by the supervisor

• A candidate for this position must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and additional training or certification
• One to three (1-3) years of prior experience with onboard diagnostics, heavy and medium trucks and automotive repair, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair
