YMCA Camp Chickami is a traditional summer day camp located in Wayland, MA. Founded in 1955, Camp Chickami has inspired kids with countless opportunities to laugh, lead, and make lasting friendships. Position Summary

To oversee the facilities at Camp Chickami during specific times of the year, including rental groups.

Essential Functions
  • Arrives to scheduled shifts at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled start.
  • Responsible for supervision of facilities and equipment, if used.
  • Responsible for ensuring rental group and participants adhere to Chickami rules.
  • Follow all Opening and Closure procedures.
  • Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.
  • Maintain participant and spectator safety at all times.
  • Maintains records as required (group name, number of participants, etc.)
  • Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Adhere to and enforce all rules of Chickami tent, lodge and grounds.
  • Assist with programs when necessary set up/break down of equipment, allow access to equipment for authorized personnel.
  • Empty all wastebaskets used and dispose of all waste from rental group at the end of the rental.
  • Ensure lights are off, heating systems are off, all doors are locked in every building, and the security system is turned on.
  • Willingness to accept responsibilities and duties other than those assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Certifications:

    CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.
  • Communication skills. Must be able to greet rental groups, answer questions about the facility, help find any equipment, if necessary, etc.
  • Must be able to react in an emergency.
  • Flexible schedule in the afternoon, evening and weekends preferred.
  • Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
  • Represent the West Suburban YMCA in a positive manner.
  • Proactive when tackling situations, addressing them quickly and professionally to deliver great results.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Physical Demands
  • Climbing, crouching, standing, sitting on floor, kneeling, carrying (50 lbs), pushing, lifting (50 lbs), running and walking.
