Job Description SummaryDauch is looking for a Packing/Industrial Engineer to join our team in Newton, NC. This is a fully onsite position.
The primary function of the role is to manage and implement a material packaging strategy for the plant. Implementing the Dauch standard for packaging and working towards a common approach as well as delivering local solutions with a view to reduce cost, complexity and safety and environmental issues. This individual will work closely with the Supplier network, Internal Dauch facilities and across our customer base on all aspects of material packaging.
Job Description:Packaging Engineering
- Manages customer packaging requirements and standards.
- Approves and maintains production packaging specifications.
- Serves as primary contact for customer packaging coordination.
- Consolidates and maintains packaging databases and master data.
- Develops and optimizes expendable and returnable packaging solutions.
- Coordinates packaging trials and validation activities.
- Supports launch activities related to packaging requirements.
- Drives packaging cost reduction and sustainability initiatives.
- Manages packaging inventory and returnable asset utilization.
- Supports Supply Chain Director with operational data collection and analysis.
- Develops KPI dashboards and reporting tools.
- Analyzes inventory, logistics, warehouse, and material flow performance.
- Supports Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Leads Kaizen events and process improvement projects.
- Conducts root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Identifies labor, productivity, and material handling improvement opportunities.
- Creates standard work and process documentation.
- Supports capacity planning and warehouse optimization efforts.
- Maintains supply chain performance metrics.
- Generates weekly and monthly KPI reporting packages.
- Analyzes transportation, inventory, packaging, and warehouse data.
- Supports Power BI, Excel, and database reporting initiatives.
- Provides data-driven recommendations to leadership.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Supply Chain, Packaging, Industrial, etc.).
- 1-5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the Automotive industry.
- Experience with ERPs (SAP/Oracle) is preferred.
