Salary Range (Hourly): $15.00 – $17.41 based on experience

Under general supervision, the School Nutrition Assistant assists the manager in overseeing kitchen operations to ensure students receive nutritious meals in a clean and caring atmosphere. The Assistant supports food production, training, and compliance with the National School Lunch Program, performing tasks such as cooking, serving, cashiering, and sanitation. The Bus Driver operates the school bus safely, follows district procedures, and monitors student behavior during travel.

• Prepares, cooks, and serves meals according to standardized recipes and special diet instructions.
• Uses batch cooking methods and replenishes warming cabinets and serving lines.
• Ensures safe and sanitary practices in line with HACCP and health department standards.
• Reviews menu and production records daily and orders food to meet portion sizes.
• Manages inventory and deliveries verifying accuracy and compliance.
• Acts as cashier or backup during lunch and breakfast.
• Maintains accurate financial, production, and activity records.
• Performs temperature checks and sanitation duties.
• Serves as Person in Charge (PIC) when manager absent.
• Provides customer service to students, parents, teachers, and staff.
• Participates in training and workshops.

• Drives bus safely to destination and return following traffic rules and district procedures.
• Performs pre‑run checks and reports malfunctions.
• Follows assigned bus routes

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One to two years of food preparation experience for SN Assistant.
• Five years of responsible driving experience; completion of NC DMV Bus Driver Training Course; DOT Physical exam and Drug Screen; eligibility for Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement for Bus Driver.

• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with computer software for ordering and time‑keeping.
• Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, TPHC, meal eligibility, and USDA regulations.
• Understanding of vehicle operation, pre‑run checks, route planning, and student safety protocols.
