Costello's Ace Hardware | Long Island is seeking a customer‑focused Key Holder to lead store operations and develop staff in preparation for an assistant manager role. The Key Holder will manage the store independently when the manager on duty is scheduled.

The Key Holder ensures high‑level customer service, inventory management, and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include opened/closed store, staff training, store openings/closings, and protecting store assets through policy adherence.

• Execute the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) process with every customer interaction.
• Be customer ready on the sales floor and recommend related items using S.A.L.E.S. process.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements; advise store management of any pricing errors.
• Assume daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management.
• Assist in training and developing peers; conduct daily huddle meetings.
• Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards; review W.E.A.D. (Walk Every Aisle Daily) appearance.
• Participate in processing new shipments and keep receiving and back stock area clean and organized.
• Greet every customer with eye contact anywhere in the store; protects company assets and reports missing or damaged merchandise.
• Execute all store services (mixing paint, cutting glass, pipe, keys) and pack out shipments in proper homes.
• Coach store staff on inventory management best practices; train visual merchandiser(s) to maintain plan‑ograms.
• Monitor store transfers, expedite outstanding transfers, and secure all store assets.
• Process damaged and defective goods accurately; follow loss prevention procedures and train staff.
• Maintain a positive relationship with store management team; address safety concerns instantly.
• Update store management on progress of store and staff regularly; be a positive, respectful role model.

• Prior retail experience and prior management experience.
