EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). It is a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with other RESC groups to support state‑wide initiatives.

BASES (Before and After School Extended Services):
Full‑time split shift (onsite: 6:45‑9:00 am and 3:15‑6:00 pm, plus 1 hour off‑site planning per day). Located in Newtown at Hawley Elementary School.
Job Description:
EdAdvance seeks a qualified applicant to work in the BASES Before and After School Program in Newtown. The candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary‑school‑aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during before‑school and after‑school hours. The Site Coordinator works under the supervision of the BASES Administrative Team.
- Supervises and organizes daily site operation of the program.
- Supervises children and provides a safe, welcoming environment.
- Maintains positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel.
- Knows and follows Office of Early Childhood Child Care Center licensing regulations.
- Maintains student registrations and paperwork.
- Set up and cleans up of the program site.
- Acquires First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification within three months of hire.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
- At least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or related field, or the ability to complete the OEC Head Teacher Certification Course (≈40 hours online).
- At least 540 hours of experience working with school‑aged children.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Awareness of age‑appropriate curriculum activities.
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good supervisory skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive work environment for staff and children.
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
