BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) – Part Time – Located in Newtown Public Elementary SchoolsEdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES Before and/or After School Programs in Newtown. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary‑school‑aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during before (6:45 am – 9:00 am) and/or after school hours (3:15 pm – 6:00 pm). The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
MajorResponsibilities
- Assist Site Coordinator in operation of before and after school program on a daily basis
- Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
- Maintain positive relationships with families, children and school personnel
- Daily set up and clean up of program site
- First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
- Experience working with school‑aged children
- Knowledge of child development
- Awareness of age‑appropriate curriculum activities
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to stand for entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students, with or without reasonable accommodation.
