Susan’s Farm is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our small staff team as an Outdoor Learning Coordinator delivering visits and short tailored programmes to schools, using the outdoors, the natural environment, and the farm to engage with young people particularly those who are disengaging from school.
About the RoleWe are looking for an inspiring person to lead the development of the school’s education programme at Susan’s Farm for young people. The post holder will deliver an engaging and stimulating programme of activities under the new overarching theme of ‘Explore and Engage:
Learning through Nature’. You will be responsible for designing, promoting, recruiting and delivering these programmes to an agreed target primarily as short‑term interventions for young people who are at risk of being excluded.
- Develop and deliver school visits, alternative provision visits and placements, as well as care farmer placements.
- Plan, promote, recruit and deliver outdoor learning programmes.
- Work with Cumbria Wildlife Trust and local educational partners to enhance programmes.
- Maintain high standards of safety and care for all participants.
This is a 30‑hour a week post (0.8 pro‑rata). Salary: £29,796 pro‑rata with 32 days annual leave (including bank holidays). We are committed to staff development and may offer a development role starting at £27,500 pro‑rata if the preferred candidate does not meet all essential skills.
About Susan’s FarmLocated in Houghton, three miles from Carlisle, Susan’s Farm is an energetic, organic livestock farm dedicated to transforming lives through learning and therapeutic experiences.
We operate on two farm sites (Houghton and Armathwaite) and provide educational activities at a neighbouring farmer farm is beef and sheep, organic, Pasture for Life‑certified, with hens and horticultural activities. We sell produce directly to customers.
Requirements- Enhanced DBS clearance.
