Position: Employment Support Coach

Overview

What if your next job was about helping someone with autism or a learning disability get their first paid job, build confidence, and gain independence? This charity is launching a pioneering employment programme designed to create opportunities for people who often face barriers when looking for work. You'll support a small group of learners on their journey towards employment, helping them identify their strengths, explore career options and take meaningful steps towards a more independent future.

This isn’t a desk‑based role. You’ll be out in the community, meeting learners in places where they feel comfortable, building relationships with local employers and creating opportunities that can genuinely change lives.

The programme is currently funded for an initial 12‑month period, with a strong possibility of a further two‑year extension if successful.

Responsibilities
  • Support a caseload of 10 learners over a 12‑month period, prioritising the recruitment of remaining learners onto the programme.
  • Get to know learners and understand their strengths, interests and ambitions.
  • Deliver employability and confidence‑building sessions.
  • Help people identify realistic career goals and next steps.
  • Work closely with parents, carers and support networks.
  • Build relationships with local employers and create employment opportunities.
  • Support learners in the workplace through job coaching.
  • Assist with travel training and workplace routines.
  • Act as a bridge between employers and learners to ensure successful outcomes.
