Job Description & How to Apply Below

Wastewater treatment sits at the intersection of engineering, environmental responsibility and public health, and right now the pressure on the industry to do things better has never been greater. Tighter standards, ageing infrastructure, and the ambition to genuinely improve the health of our rivers mean that the engineers working in this space have a real opportunity to shape outcomes that matter.

At Stantec, we're doing exactly that. Our wastewater process engineering practice is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our Cambridge office - someone ready to take on meaningful technical responsibility within a team that's embedded in some of the most significant water programmes in the UK, and who wants to grow into one of the next generation of leaders in this field.,

Based in Cambridge, you'll be part of our wider integrated process engineering community, working alongside internationally recognised industry experts who are genuinely invested in the development of the people around them. You'll be delivering wastewater process engineering across a broad portfolio of clients and programmes, with the majority of work centred on optioneering through to outline design, though detailed design experience is warmly welcomed.

Our integrated process community gives you scope to work with every major utility across the UK, meaning your portfolio will be varied, your network will grow, and no two years will look the same. You'll also play an active part in guiding junior engineers as they develop, supported in turn by the expertise of the senior specialists around you.

YOUR IMPACT

The solutions you develop here will influence how wastewater is treated across the region and beyond for decades to come. Whether you're helping to reduce storm overflow spills into rivers, improving the quality of treated effluent, or developing lower carbon treatment processes that challenge what the industry considers "standard", the work has real environmental and community consequences. You'll be contributing to a cleaner water environment at a moment when that contribution is urgently needed.

You're a process engineer with solid experience in optioneering and outline design for wastewater quantity and quality challenges. You think carefully about whole life cost and carbon, and you're curious about how today s design decisions will hold up against the challenges of tomorrow. You're also a natural collaborator, someone who takes time to bring junior colleagues along and knows when to draw on subject matter expert input.

Detailed design experience is a bonus rather than a requirement here. What matters most is your appetite for tackling complex problems at the front end of projects, and your commitment to finding solutions that go beyond the conventional. If you're not quite sure whether your background fits, then please reach out to find out more.
