Role Overview

Provide consultant input and clinical leadership for both the community eating disorder service and the alternative to admission eating disorder team (A-EDIT), working 0.5 WTE in each area. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, supervising junior staff and contributing to service development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver consultant clinical leadership and patient care in the community eating disorder service based at ward S3 outpatients at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
  • Provide consultant input to the A-EDIT service, coordinating assessment and treatment for regional patients.
  • Supervise junior doctors and offer peer supervision to GPs, and participate in medical student teaching.
  • Chair the weekly high‑risk meeting and contribute to the team leadership at weekly meetings.
  • Maintain Section 12(2) status and Approved Clinician status, participate in Mental Health Act assessments, and be the responsible clinician for patients on supervised community treatment orders.
  • Collect and analyze clinical information for service development, audit, and clinical governance activities.
  • Lead quality improvement projects, implementing national guidance such as NICE and MEED (Medical emergencies in eating disorders).
  • Maintain ongoing education, professional development, and accreditation, with support provided for training and development.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Trust's annual appraisal process, mandatory training, and regular supervision.
  • Offer supervision to junior doctors and provide medical student teaching.
  • Engage in service development and quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with managerial and clinical colleagues.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Medical degree with specialty training in psychiatry.
  • Exhibited competency in eating disorder assessment and treatment, with experience in multidisciplinary team settings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mental Health, Mental Capacity, and Care Act legislation, and experience in Mental Health Act assessments.
  • Evidence‑based practice adhering to NICE guidelines and a bio‑psychosocial approach to patient care.
