• Shifts: Days (8:00am to 8:00pm) or Nights (8:00pm to 8:00am)

The Oaks Care Home is part of Sandstone Care Group and is located in Newtown, Powys. This exceptional 73-bed nursing and residential care home opened in January 2020 and provides a modern, luxury environment for residents and team members alike. Our purpose-built home features outstanding facilities, including a coffee shop and bistro, hair and beauty salon, dedicated activities room, beautifully landscaped gardens, and innovative care technology designed to enhance resident wellbeing.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care while supporting and guiding colleagues.

As a Senior Health Care Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring residents receive the highest standard of care, dignity, and support, while contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.

• Support residents with personal care, hygiene, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and daily living activities.
• Promote independence, dignity, choice, and respect in all aspects of care.
• Ensure residents' individual preferences and needs are met at all times.

• Build positive and meaningful relationships with residents and their families.
• Offer companionship and emotional reassurance, helping residents feel valued and supported.

• Lead by example and provide guidance and support to care colleagues.
• Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, inductions, and performance development.
• Participate in supervisions, appraisals, and recruitment activities where required.
• Administer medication safely in line with policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate care records and support care planning processes.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.

• Encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that support their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
• Adapt support to suit individual interests, abilities, and personal goals.

• Help ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Contribute to audits, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

We’re seeking an experienced, compassionate leader with a passion for elderly care. Ideal candidates will have:

• Previous experience working within a residential, nursing, or care home environment.
• Experience supporting or supervising a team.
• A caring, approachable, and professional manner.
• The ability to remain calm and effective in a busy environment.
• A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or a willingness to work towards achieving one).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence using digital care systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Flexibility and a positive attitude towards teamwork and resident-focused care.
