Specialist Community Public Health Nursing; School Nurse

Overview

Join our school nursing team to reinvigorate our service with a visible school nursing presence in schools. The role focuses on early intervention, health promotion and needs-led interventions within a clinical governance framework. The post-holder will support continuous service quality improvement and safeguarding standards of care in line with local health service governance.

• Promote and participate in health promotion initiatives.
• Act as a signpost for families to other relevant services, empowering them as users.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, carers and staff and implement evidence-based practice where possible.
• Operate as a Nurse Prescriber holding V100 qualification.
• Actively develop a more specialised service or activity based on clear evidence of need, in partnership with commissioners.
• Provide the core school nursing programme to families and the community.
• Work in partnership with clients and families to agreed contracts to promote and maximise physical, emotional, psychological and social well-being.
• Undertake and provide a holistic assessment of health needs and develop, implement and review care plans.
• Review and evaluate outcomes for children and families.
• Refer clients to other agencies as appropriate (e.g., onward referral of identified vulnerable children and adults).
• Develop with other professionals an overall specialist protection plan where indicated (e.g., Child Protection Plan).

• Nurse Prescriber with V100 qualification.
• Experience in school nursing and working within a clinical governance framework is desirable.
