Senior AI Consultant – AI Transformation
This role is for a strong senior engineer / tech lead who can bring AI into delivery teams in two ways: using AI tooling to improve engineering productivity across whole teams, and building products and platforms that incorporate AI/LLM features safely and pragmatically.
Responsibilities- Work hands‑on within multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver AI‑enabled software.
- Help clients make the right calls on where AI adds value and where it does not.
- Use, advise on, and develop AI‑related features such as intelligent search, RAG, summarisation, context management, AI agents, large‑model tuning and fine‑tuning, token‑usage forecasting, vector databases, and AI‑enhanced SDLC practices.
- Set teams up for sustainable success through strong engineering practices (testing, CI/CD, observability, quality), clear system boundaries, maintainable architecture, secure deployment patterns for AI components at scale, and performance‑monitoring via evaluations.
- Coach and upskill client engineers on pragmatic, safe adoption of AI tools and techniques.
- Keep yourself and your team up‑to‑date on the latest AI techniques and technology.
- Contribute to Softwire’s internal capability building: patterns, accelerators, reusable approaches and a culture of learning by building.
- Senior‑level engineering capability with a proven track record of building and shipping production software.
- Technical leadership experience guiding architectural decisions, setting standards, and ensuring scalable delivery.
- Practical experience applying AI in real teams, both as tooling and as product features.
- Strong engineering fundamentals: automated testing, CI/CD hygiene, code‑review practices, clean boundaries, observability and operational readiness.
- Comfort with AI uncertainty and risk: designing for predictable behaviour, graceful degradation, safeguards, and clear communication of limitations.
- Ability to bridge business needs with technical approaches and act as a trusted advisor to clients.
