Belfast South is seeking to recruit a qualified teacher as an Education Support Worker to support the delivery and coordination of the Learning Together programme in South Belfast.
The post will work closely with Blythefield Primary School and Belfast South staff to support the delivery, coordination and development of targeted numeracy, literacy, digital and after-school interventions for primary school pupils.

The post will have a strong focus on the direct delivery of targeted literacy and numeracy
interventions, alongside coordination and contribution to after-school learning, digital
learning, wellbeing, family engagement and wider educational activities.
You will work specifically with pupils identified by Blythefield Primary School as having low
attainment, poor attendance or wider disadvantage to improve their engagement with
learning, develop literacy, numeracy and digital skills, build confidence and promote positive
attitudes towards education.
The post holder will work closely with school staff to ensure that interventions complement
classroom teaching and are appropriately targeted to individual pupil needs.

- Qualified Teacher with current GTCNI registration or equivalent.
- Experience in delivering literacy and numeracy interventions to primary-aged pupils.
- Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and primary assessment approaches.

Duties andKey Responsibilities Educational Delivery
- Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions within Blythefield Primary School through one-to-one and small-group sessions, generally involving 3–4 pupils.
- Plan and deliver learning activities aligned to the Northern Ireland Curriculum and individual pupil needs.
- Support development in reading, comprehension, spelling, writing, vocabulary, number, mental mathematics, problem-solving and mathematical confidence.
- Use differentiated, inclusive and engaging approaches to support pupils with low attainment, poor attendance or barriers to learning.
- Contribute to the delivery and coordination of the programme’s targeted school-based sessions, working alongside the part-time school sessional support staff.
- Work with Blythefield Primary School staff to ensure interventions complement classroom teaching.
- Review pupil progress and adapt interventions in response to identified need.
- Coordinate and directly contribute to the delivery of after-school learning sessions, including literacy, numeracy, homework support and educational activities.
- Work alongside other Belfast South staff, youth workers, facilitators and volunteers to deliver the wider after-school programme.
- Support activities that reinforce learning in an informal community environment and promote confidence, communication and positive engagement with education.
- Coordinate and contribute to wellbeing and confidence-building activities within after-school provision.
- Support the organisation of educational trips, enrichment activities and programme events.
- Coordinate the project's digital learning provision in partnership with Belfast South's Digital Team.
- Support and coordinate age-appropriate digital learning activities within school and after-school settings.
- Support pupils to develop digital confidence, digital literacy and awareness of online safety.
- Coordinate and contribute to a number of family literacy and parental engagement workshops.
