The main purposes of the role

  • The day to day team leadership and management of the Stormwater Design Team, effective management of delivery of Stormwater design and drawing submission, problem solving and any other tasks as directed by the Design Office Manager.
  • Upholding high standards of quality and customer satisfaction as a result of the outputs and actions of the Stormwater Design Team.
  • Responsible for the effective outputs of the Stormwater Design Team in line with agreed targets for productivity, utilisation and COPQ.
What you'll be doing
  • Lead, motivate and mentor all members of the Stormwater Design Team.
  • Play a key role in creating and upholding a safe, collaborative and positive work environment.
  • To ensure a strong “One Team” focus when the Design Team work with other areas of the business.
  • Day to day management of the Stormwater Design Team including but not limited to personal development plans, performance management, time and attendance, absence management, year end reviews and setting goals.
  • Set and achieve relevant performance targets, priorities plans and metrics for the Stormwater Design Team
  • Assign tasks and manage the workload and capacity of the Stormwater Design Team ensuring all drawings are delivered on time
  • Produce 3D models and supporting 2D drawings including P&IDs and BOM when required.
  • Offer guidance and support in regard to the designs, manufacturing methods and use of the IT drawing suite (AutoCAD and Inventor).
  • Checking of Stormwater drawings.
  • Ensure weld detail / procedures are present (and correct) on company drawings.
  • Support departmental requirements in regard to ISO 1090 accreditation.
Who we are looking for
  • To have an excellent understand of health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations. Ensure all company and customer HSE policies and procedures are followed and embraced to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Mechanical Engineering/Design degree or other relevant certification.
  • Previous experience in leadership or team management is preferred.
  • Can demonstrate track record of relevant professional personal development
  • Previous experience working in the UK municipal water sector is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD systems with strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Previous experience producing and reading technical drawings is essential.
  • Previous experience supervising designs for specific projects or products is essential.
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Previous experience leading small design teams and/or activities is essential.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques for fabricated and skid mounted products is preferred.
  • Previous experience producing general arrangement drawings and drawings for manufacture including BOMs is essential
  • Previous experience checking drawings is essential.
  • Leadership skills are essential.
