MISSION
'The role is responsible for managing the design and development of coffee systems and brewing units, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and product quality. This involves developing the overall system architecture for coffee machines, managing the design and development of mechanical and hydraulic elements, providing seamless integration of all components, and integrating sustainable solutions. Further, the role entails coordinating with relevant Research and Development and cross‑functional teams involved in coffee machine development to ensure alignment of features and requirements, evaluate feasibility and prototypes development.
Lastly, the role requires monitoring KPIs and metrics to evaluate the performance of coffee machine systems and brewing units, monitoring trends, emerging technologies and best practices, and identifying opportunities for coffee machines improvement or innovation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all the activities related to the design and development of coffee machine brewing units and systems, including the mechanical and hydraulic components (e.g., brewing mechanics, motors), ensuring functionality, reliability and adherence to quality standards.Develops the system architecture for coffee machines, coordinating with Research and Development teams focused on coffee machines development (e.g., Engineering, Electronics) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.Integrates sustainable solutions in coffee machine systems and brewing units, identifying solutions that minimize the environmental impact.Manages the budget allocated for coffee machine brewing units and systems development, effectively using allocated resources and ensuring adherence to budget constraints.Manages the activities to guarantee the functionality and performance of the coffee machine as a whole, ensuring effective integration of key subsystems, including water heating, brewing, and capsule handling, to create a cohesive and high quality coffee brewing system.Collaborates with Research and Development teams focused on food product and packaging development to ensure compatibility between coffee capsules and coffee machines.Collaborates with cross‑functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Production) to ensure the overall coffee machine system and components meet new product development requirements, while assessing financial and technical feasibility.Participates in prototypes development and evaluation, ensuring adequate transformation of design concepts into physical or virtual models, and reviewing tests to assess usability, functionality and reliability of the product.Identifies, evaluates and manages the collaboration with partners and suppliers for components sourcing and development of technologies, negotiating contracts that align with company's requirements, and evaluating the performance of partnerships.Develops and maintains design and development guidelines and standards for coffee machines system and brewing units, ensuring consistency and quality across the product portfolio.Ensures coffee machines system and brewing units comply with relevant industry regulations and safety standards.Monitors KPIs and metrics to evaluate the performance of coffee machine systems and brewing mechanism, identifying areas of improvement and providing reports with recommendations to senior management.Monitors industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in coffee machine systems and brewing units development, identifying opportunities for improvement or innovation and providing recommendations to senior management.GENERAL SKILLS
