Overview

Main purpose of the role: to lead the care team to ensure the delivery of excellent standards of care, prescribe, deliver and supervise high standards of care in accordance with Beaumont Care Homes Ltd policies and procedures; promoting rehabilitation where appropriate and independence where possible and desired with dignity and respect at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and oversee the highest possible standards of person-centred care; continually assessing residents  needs and wishes, developing the service to enhance their quality of life.
  • Champion appropriate independence and personal choice; develop, review and update care plans to meet changing physical, social and psychological needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift; ensure medicines are received, stored and administered in accordance with company policies and current legislation.
  • Build and market the positive reputation of the business; communicate warmly and professionally with visitors, including family, friends and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all elements of resident experience are positive, from admission to discharge.
  • Participate knowledgeably and professionally in all inspection visits from RQIA, Trusts and CCGs, ensuring your teams are ready at all times to do the same.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines; proactively manage risks and report issues appropriately.
  • Maintain rigorous monitoring and recording practices; document timely assessments on admission, person-centred care planning, ongoing reviews and incident reporting.
  • Promote a cohesive team approach; work collaboratively to deliver the highest quality care and ensure staff are well supported.
  • Foster an atmosphere where all staff feel connected to residents, their host home, their portfolio, their division and the wider organisation.
  • Understand key targets for the host home and support the Home Manager in achieving them.
  • Promote high standards of nursing care; supervise staff and ensure shifts run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Participate in the delivery of all aspects of resident care.
  • Support, guide, teach and mentor others in line with the NMC Code; work within the Code at all times.
  • Accept responsibility, show commitment and lead by example.
  • Attend relevant meetings (internal and external) and regular team meetings; participate in monthly appraisals with the line manager.
  • Act as a reflective and developmental practitioner, engaging in continual professional development and fulfilling requirements of professional revalidation.

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Numerate and literate with effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use IT and communication systems required for the role
  • Ability to develop internal and external relationships based on mutual respect and professionalism
  • Ability to work under pressure while motivating the team

  • Experience delivering nursing care within elderly healthcare
  • People management experience
