Bakery Chef

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. £14.79 per hour + Sodexo employee benefits package. Opportunities for career development.

We are currently seeking a Baking Chef to join our team supporting our corporate client in Royston. This role is primarily focused on producing high‑quality, homemade baked goods and desserts for daily service. From comforting crumbles to classic sponges and traditional traybakes, you’ll play a key part in delivering fresh, simple, and delicious home baking each day. You’ll also provide ad hoc support to the wider kitchen team as required.

• Prepare and bake a variety of homemade desserts and sweet treats, including crumbles, sponge cakes, traybakes, and other traditional bakes
• Ensure all items are produced to a consistent, high standard of quality and presentation
• Follow recipes and portion controls accurately
• Maintain excellent food safety, allergen awareness, and hygiene standards at all times
• Keep baking areas, equipment, and storage clean, organised, and safe
• Support the wider kitchen team with general food preparation and service when required
• Assist with stock rotation and ingredient ordering where needed

• Experience in baking or pastry preparation within a professional kitchen or similar environment
• Passion for traditional, home‑style baking
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a busy kitchen
• Positive, team‑focused attitude
• Reliability, attention to detail, and pride in your work
