About Us

Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.

We have bold ambitions for the future through our Lambeth 2030 Plan “Our Future, Our Lambeth.”

With exceptional schools, green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching environment. Please view our One Lambeth Values and Behaviours page.

About the Team

The Lambeth Adult Learning Service provides inclusive, high-quality education, training, and skills development for adults in community venues across the borough. Our learners face barriers to learning and work, and we work with commissioned partners to deliver opportunities that help Lambeth residents gain skills and qualifications to improve their lives and gain meaningful employment. Our vision is to offer flexible, innovative learning pathways that support diverse backgrounds, foster social inclusion, and reduce inequalities.

About

the Role

As the Teaching and Learning Lead, you will work with tutors across Lambeth Adult Learning to further develop professional practice. You will join a diverse, supportive Adult Community Learning Service with tutors committed to providing the best possible experience for learners and open to professional support and development. You will complement our CPD offer through coaching and mentoring on a one-to-one or small group basis.

Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with tutors and managers to build on innovative teaching approaches, enhancing outstanding and inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside tutors as a professional peer without line management responsibilities.

Who We are Looking For

A strong practitioner who delivers exceptional experiences for learners, you will enthuse and inspire the tutors you work with. You will be collaborative, bringing knowledge to develop pedagogy and trial new ideas and approaches. It may involve watching and modelling teaching, team teaching, and action research. We are seeking an inspiring Teaching and Learning Lead committed to tackling inequality and shaping the role to make a real difference to learners in Lambeth.
