Learning Behaviour Support Assistant – Radstock Primary School

Salary: £80 – £100 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with behavioural needs and helping them succeed within a mainstream primary school environment? Do you have a patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support?

Academics are currently recruiting for a dedicated Learning Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming and well-respected primary school in Radstock. This rewarding role focuses on supporting pupils with behavioural challenges, helping them regulate emotions, engage positively with learning, and build confidence within the classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to provide tailored support, both on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.

The Role – Learning Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Provide targeted behavioural and emotional support to pupils
  • Support children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to promote engagement and positive behaviour
  • Assist with implementing behaviour support strategies and interventions
  • Help create a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, or behavioural challenges
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff

  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
  • Passion for supporting children with behavioural needs
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
  • Previous experience supporting behaviour or SEN desirable but not essential (mentoring, youth work, coaching, childcare, or classroom support welcome)
