Compensation & Working Hours

Starting salary: £41,992 per annum, progressing to £45,089 per annum through annual increments subject to satisfactory service. Inclusive of outer fringe allowance. 37 hours per week (hybrid working).

Permanent Contract

This is a permanent contract role.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the urban tree environment for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering the council’s tree maintenance contract.
  • Carrying out tree inspections and assessing potential hazards.
  • Advising the planning team on tree protection matters.
  • Influencing the development of green infrastructure within the borough.
About You
  • Hold a Level 4 or above qualification in Arboriculture or an equivalent degree in a related subject, with post-qualification experience.
  • Desirable:
    Professional Tree Inspector qualification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Willingness to work across a broad area of tree management and support the wider Tree Wardens interests.
  • Experienced with IT applications for arboriculture such as Ezytree

    V and GIS systems.
  • Strong communication skills, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in spoken English.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits and inspections.
  • Flexible hybrid working with a minimum of two days a week in the office, as required by service needs.
