Starting salary: £41,992 per annum, progressing to £45,089 per annum through annual increments subject to satisfactory service. Inclusive of outer fringe allowance. 37 hours per week (hybrid working).

Role OverviewThe successful candidate will manage all aspects of the urban tree environment for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administering the council’s tree maintenance contract.
- Carrying out tree inspections and assessing potential hazards.
- Advising the planning team on tree protection matters.
- Influencing the development of green infrastructure within the borough.
- Hold a Level 4 or above qualification in Arboriculture or an equivalent degree in a related subject, with post-qualification experience.
- Desirable:
Professional Tree Inspector qualification or willingness to obtain one. - Willingness to work across a broad area of tree management and support the wider Tree Wardens interests.
- Experienced with IT applications for arboriculture such as Ezytree
V and GIS systems. - Strong communication skills, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in spoken English.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits and inspections.
- Flexible hybrid working with a minimum of two days a week in the office, as required by service needs.
