We are currently looking for a confident, enthusiastic, and dedicated Young Onset Dementia support worker to be part of an established team. The role is part of a fixed‑term contract (up to March 2027) with 16.5 hours a week, focused on delivering a bespoke programme in the community for people with young onset dementia. Your work will involve identifying individual goals, developing coping strategies, setting up reminders, assistive technology, building confidence with everyday tasks, and facilitating new groups or initiatives based on feedback from local communities and individuals with dementia.
The role promotes independence and applies a person‑centred approach in a safe, respectful and dignified manner, with a particular emphasis on co‑producing sessions with people with dementia. You will also receive specialist training and support to develop your career with Coventry City Council.
- Work with individuals to identify goals they would like to work on and help develop coping strategies to support these goals.
- Set up calendar reminders, signs, assistive technology, or rebuild confidence with everyday tasks such as shopping.
- Set up and facilitate new groups or initiatives based on feedback from local communities and individuals with dementia.
- Promote independence and apply a person‑centred approach in a safe, respectful and dignified manner with co‑production of sessions.
- Ensure the rights of people who access our services are always promoted, upholding principles of choice, control, dignity, respect, involvement, and empowerment.
- Respect the emotional wellbeing of the people we support in all aspects of service delivery, enabling them to assert responsibility for their own lives and act in accordance with their consent regarding care and support.
- Help create opportunities and choices so that everyone can achieve desired outcomes and has appropriate control over decision‑making about the service they receive.
- Promote the physical, emotional, social and intellectual wellbeing of the people we support, including facilitating access to local facilities and opportunities.

- Candidate must be able to obtain a satisfactory response to a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
- Confidence, enthusiasm and dedication to work with people with dementia.
