Overview
We are looking to recruit a full time Clinical Psychologist to our busy and friendly CAMHS service in Hywel Dda University Health Board. The successful candidate will spend 0.5 wte in our developing service for young people with Restricted, Selective and Avoidant eating difficulties (including ARFID), providing a psychology perspective and engaging in assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation. The role is part of a new provision remit, complementing the 0.5 wte Primary CAMHS and Schools In Reach (SIRS/PMHWS) service.
The post will be based in Carmarthen and may accommodate part‑time hours for suitable applicants.
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for young people with eating difficulties.
- Bring a strong psychology perspective to a new and developing service.
- Deliver training to CAMHS and Child Health colleagues to increase skills and confidence across the system.
- Contribute to shaping service development, including innovative work delivered outside of CAMHS settings.
- Direct therapeutic work with children, young people and families.
- Supervise assistant psychologists and trainee clinical psychologists.
- Provide training and consultation to colleagues within the service and across partner agencies.
- Support education staff as part of the Schools In‑Reach model.
- Work within a team of three SIRS/PMHWS services across the health board.
- Operate within the framework of Annex 21, with support for progression to Band 8a over two years.
- Qualified Clinical Psychologist with registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Experience in psychology assessment and intervention, preferably with children and young people.
- Demonstrated experience in training and supervising junior psychologists.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; the role is open to both Welsh and English speakers.
- Experience or knowledge of eating difficulties, including ARFID, is advantageous.
- Annex 21 pay and banding arrangement with a protected route to Band 8a.
- 35‑month development plan and regular supervision to meet Band 8a competencies.

Tenby and South Pembrokeshire (Pembrokeshire) - Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan (Ceredigion), plus several other community settings
