Mental Health Assistant – Chieveley

Full-Time | ASAP Start

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their emotional wellbeing and mental health?

A nurturing and forward‑thinking specialist school in Chieveley is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join their team full‑time. This is a long‑term opportunity for someone looking to gain hands‑on experience supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

In this Mental Health Assistant role, you will work with children and young people who may present with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma‑related needs, and behavioural challenges. The school provides a therapeutic and structured environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group emotional support
  • Help students develop coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Support positive behaviour management
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff
  • Foster a safe, calm, and engaging learning environment

This Mental Health Assistant role is an excellent stepping stone for aspiring Psychologists, Therapists, Youth Workers, Teachers, or Social Workers. You’ll gain practical experience in a specialist setting while making a genuine impact on young lives.
