Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a contract assignment in Niagara Falls, New York. This role focuses on accurate invoice handling, timely disbursements, and consistent financial recordkeeping in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail and hands-on experience with accounts payable processes, including coding, ACH transactions, and check processing.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing payment.

- Assign correct general ledger or account codes to invoices and expense documentation.

- Enter and maintain payable records in a timely manner to support accurate financial reporting.

- Prepare electronic payments, including ACH transactions, while ensuring compliance with internal controls.

- Coordinate scheduled check runs and verify payment details prior to release.

- Investigate invoice discrepancies and work with internal contacts or vendors to resolve issues efficiently.

- Reconcile payable activity and supporting documentation to help maintain organized financial files. Requirements - Proven experience handling full-cycle accounts payable activities.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding and account allocation procedures.

- Experience processing ACH payments and managing check run activities.

- Strong accuracy and attention to detail when entering and reviewing financial data.

- Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a contract role.

- Effective communication skills for resolving payment or invoice-related questions.
