The Manufacturing Engineer – Injection Molding is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining injection molding processes to support high-volume automotive production. This role requires a hands-on, creative engineer who can bridge molded substrate performance with downstream coating quality, ensuring Class A surfaces, robust processes, and cost-effective manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot injection molding processes (press setup, tooling, parameters, material flow, defect reduction)
  • Lead root cause analysis for molding and coating defects (warp, sink, flash, short shots, adhesion loss, runs, fisheyes)
  • Support new product launches using APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production to improve FPY, scrap, cycle time, and OEE
  • Establish and maintain process documentation and standard work
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools
  • Specify and support equipment, tooling, and automation for molding and coating operations
  • Partner with suppliers on resins, coatings, and process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949) and EHS requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive injection molding
  • Strong understanding of process controls, SPC, and structured problem solving
  • Experience working in high-volume automotive manufacturing environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
  • Experience supporting OEM or Tier 1 automotive customers
