The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for setting up and operating manufacturing machines and related equipment in a production/processing operation. The role involves monitoring meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Responsibilities include following engineering drawings, work order information, manufacturing procedures, SOPs, and other specifications; performing manufacturing process and equipment set‑up, calibration, testing, and inspections.
This position reports to the site Supervisor Manufacturing Process Engineer and is part of the manufacturing/production team located in Nicholasville, Kentucky and is an on‑site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To- Precision Assembly & Finishing:
Mount sensitive optical and jewel materials using waxes and epoxies; fine‑grind and polish components to micron‑level tolerances while maintaining flat tools for optimal results. - Inspection & Quality Control:
Perform in‑process dimensional checks and visual inspections under a microscope to ensure critical dimensions and defect‑free components meet specifications. - Process & Workplace Excellence:
Maintain a clean, organized work area and tools in good condition; recommend and implement process improvements in collaboration with Engineering.
- Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience OR associate degree and 1+ years of work experience; solid understanding of shop math and ability to read machine drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. - Technical & Manual
Skills:
Functional knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing; strong hand dexterity for handling sensitive components; proficiency in MS Office and basic Windows navigation. - Attention to Detail & Communication:
Ability to maintain accurate records, follow and communicate verbal/written instructions effectively, and collaborate with associates and supervisors; understands when to request guidance and able to use an optical microscope for cleaning and inspection.
- Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting up to 35 pounds. Lifting frequency: daily. Must stand for long time periods.
- Frequently twist and bend.
- Pass visual acuity exam.
- Work with solvents, oils, and other chemicals.
