Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership over three H&R Block tax offices, guiding customer-centric teams to accelerate seasonal tax business.
  • Serve as the front-line manager responsible for leadership and development of associates, delivering an outstanding client experience, and achieving office growth objectives for three tax offices. Prior tax preparation experience is not required.
  • Start with a flexible part-time schedule in the fall; transition to full-time January–April, including evenings and weekends as needed. This role is in-person and not remote.
  • Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates.
  • Manage office staffing, operations, and logistics for multiple offices with support from Associate Team Leaders.
  • Partner with the District General Manager to create and implement office-level growth plans and client growth targets, including developing local partnerships and managing office community involvement.
  • Assist DGM in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office positions.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and partner with the Associate Relations Center to resolve issues and address performance concerns.
  • Create an engaging team environment across all offices by training and coaching associates and recognizing outstanding contributions.
  • Prepare associate work schedules across offices and ensure accurate timekeeping and labor management; travel between offices as required.
  • Prepare tax returns as needed, upon successful completion of the Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment.
What you’ll bring to the team
  • People management experience with the ability to grow and develop associates.
  • Ability to execute growth plans and lead toward a growth-oriented culture.
  • Strong decision-making and judgment skills; able to function in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office; computer literate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a high school diploma with equivalent experience.
  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course (if preparing tax returns).

  • People management experience and a track record of developing associates.
  • Aptitude for growth plan execution and leading toward a growth culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; client-focused.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office.
  • Educational requirements as noted above.
  • Compliance with required certifications/tests for tax work.
