The Food Services Director organizes, plans, directs, controls, and supervises functions and personnel within the dietary department which provides food and nutrition services to residents in a long‑term care facility. The director leads quality dining programs that enhance the meal experience for the residents and ensures that the dining programs meet federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

- Train workers on procedures and the proper operation and maintenance of equipment
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise functions and activities of the departments
- Supervise and evaluate the quality of work completed by department employees
- Forecast and plan the purchase of supplies and equipment
- Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services are rendered; maintain proper staffing levels
- Maintain required records, including inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records
- Conduct regular management staff meetings and communicate with members of other departments to coordinate dietary activities
- Manage a cost‑effective program within budget
- Keep the department survey‑ready at all times, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain excellent relations with residents, visitors, and all community departments
- Actively participate in facility meetings and committees
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Promote professional growth and development of the entire departmental team
- Conduct quality‑assurance rounds and inspections to ensure current quality controls and methodologies are suitable and sustainable
- Report monthly initiatives, goals, and accomplishments
- Promote and monitor resident satisfaction
- Ensure that the food service operation is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner
- Associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality, including a course of study in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Food service supervisory experience required; at least two years experience in long‑term care preferred
- Serv Safe Certification for Managers, National Restaurant Association
- Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP), per the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers, the credentialing agency of the Association of Nutrition & Food service Professionals (ANFP)
- Skilled in motivating and supervising staff members
- Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, and quality attitude
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- Public speaking skills
- Excellent stress‑management skills, administrative and organizational abilities with follow‑through
- Ability to work all shifts as needed
- Proficient in the use of Windows‑based office software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
