Position Summary
Technician performs mechanical services on new and used equipment in the service shop area. Responsible for testing, repairing, and rebuilding equipment. Additional responsibilities include writing service reports, assigning time to jobs, and adhering to all safety regulations. Responsible for housekeeping (5S) and maintaining company issued tools and equipment.
Responsibilities- Adheres to all safety rules and maintains good housekeeping (5S) in the shop area.
- Diagnoses and repairs equipment in the service shop.
- Completes all required reporting for service time accurately and efficiently, including writing service reports, allocating time to each job, and tracking parts charged and returned.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by meeting customer needs and deadlines, completing scheduled repairs and service safely, timely, and accurately.
- Maintains company issued equipment and tools, keeping them in good working order.
- High school education or equivalent; technical background in diesel equipment repair from vocational school.
- 2 to 4 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment; strong knowledge of hydraulics, power train, and electrical systems.
- Solid understanding of work area metrics and ability to improve metrics and results; shows initiative and self‑starting ability.
- Good problem‑solving skills; can identify problems, solicit opinions, offer solutions, and interpret policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Responds to customer requests with urgency, treating customers as highest priority, keeping commitments and following through.
- Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and courteous treatment of peers, subordinates, and customers.
- Operates industry‑specific PC and main‑frame programs with basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, and database systems.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends.
