Diesel Mechanic

- Friday 1st Shift

Pay 28- 40 (to achieve high 30’s need bus, Cummins/ International experience and Certs)

• Servicing of gasoline and diesel powered buses from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service
• Diagnose mechanical defects and carries out a preventive maintenance program
• Major and minor overhaul of engines and transmissions
• Service and maintain brakes, air compressors, fuel systems, ignitions, HVAC systems and Wheel Chair lifts
• Service and maintain vehicle air conditioning units
• Inspects and repairs school buses per DOT requirements
• Keep records of time and materials used

• Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred
• Must have own set of tools
• Knowledge of the provisions of codes and laws relating to pupil transportation (i.e. IDOT inspections) CDL class B License with air brake endorsement preferred A/C Certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion in a timely manner
