Librarian

Librarian - Nizwa, Oman

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team in Nizwa, Oman. This role offers a salary of 1700$ per month and includes accommodation and visa sponsorship. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing our library resources and providing assistance to library patrons.

• Organize and maintain library materials, including books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials
• Create cataloging systems to ensure easy access to library resources
• Assist patrons in locating materials and provide reference services
• Develop and implement programs to promote the use of the library by students and faculty
• Train new staff members on library policies and procedures
• Stay updated on current trends in information technology to enhance the library's digital resources
• Collaborate with other departments to develop interdisciplinary research projects
• Manage the budget for purchasing new materials
• Plan events such as author readings or book clubs to engage the community

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
• Proven experience working as a Librarian in an academic or public library setting
• Knowledge of cataloging systems and computerized databases
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
• Creative thinking with the ability to develop engaging programs for library users
• Familiarity with current trends in information technology and digital resources

• Master's degree in Library Science or a related field
• Experience working with children or young adults in a library setting
• Fluency in Arabic language is preferred but not required
