Title: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST

Department: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Definition:

Under general direction, ensures that computer systems of the County are operating properly.

Essential Functions:

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.

Tasks:

  • Performs technical work of moderate difficulty in the installation, operation, troubleshooting and repairs to County data, voice and video hardware and software systems;
  • Installs software; sets up, tests and installs computers and peripheral equipment in Microsoft Active Directory environment;
  • Troubleshoots problems and takes corrective measures;
  • Communicates with vendors and repair companies to correct hardware or software problems;
  • Evaluates software and makes recommendations for possible applications;
  • Provides technical assistance and desk-side training to system users;
  • Maintains database of software and materials; maintains files and records;
  • Performs disaster recovery processes including: software/file backup, restore, recovery;
  • Manages/monitors disaster recovery hardware such as battery backups, Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage and disk-based backup drives;
  • Creates, configures and operates VMware servers;
  • Performs additions, moves and changes on County’s VoIP phone system;
  • Performs additions, moves, changes to user accounts in a Windows Active Directory.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows PC and Server configuration and management;
    • Knowledge of DNS and DHCP in a Windows Network;
    • Knowledge of MSO
      365 Applications;
    • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Desktop & Server);
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory;
    • Knowledge of Cisco Voice over IP Telephony Systems;
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server with Unified Communications;
    • Knowledge of VMWare;
    • Knowledge of Wi-Fi principles;
    • Knowledge of Network security best practices;
    • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server;
    • Skill in computer and network systems hardware troubleshooting;
    • Skill in troubleshooting network problems in a TCP/IP network;
    • Skill using software and hardware tools to troubleshoot Windows-based PCs and Servers;
    • Skill in managing software on Windows-Based PCs;
    • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing;
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with County staff;
    • Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Information Technology and three (3) years of experience in the operation, set-up, repair and maintenance of computers, software, Local Area Networks and related peripheral equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Successful completion of a criminal background check. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
