Title: Spanish Linguist

Location: Nationwide

Security Clearance: Public Trust

Schedule: As Needed Part‑Time Essential Services Position. Requires day, night, weekend, holiday shifts. Non‑exempt; eligible for overtime.

Hourly Wage: $28.73/hr

Job Summary

Our Linguists perform real‑time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, analyze and decode colloquialisms and slang, extract pertinent information and communicate it to law enforcement agents. Responsibilities include transcribing source documents and recordings from various media types.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
  • Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.
  • Contribute to a master‑list of slang words and codes for the duration of the project.
  • Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
  • Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by supervisor.
  • Produce court‑ready transcriptions of calls, chats, and documents, following required formats.
  • Use the reference tools created during the project.
  • Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
  • Operate specialized software equipment such as JSI voice box, Pen‑link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment.
  • Maintain a daily log of productivity.
  • Perform related duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of professional experience, or Associate degree with 5 years, or High School Diploma with 7 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of transcription experience in the required language.
  • Eligible for government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for classified information.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
  • Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Must meet contract requirement of a score of 3 or better on a third‑party language assessment in English.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure, fast‑paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, meet stringent deadlines, balance multiple tasks, and work in a team.
  • Take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
  • Type 45 words per minute.
Clearance
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Favorable credit check for all cleared positions.
  • Successfully passing background investigation, medical and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Permanent Resident who have lived in the U.S. for the past 3 of 5 years.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Standing/Walking/Mobility:
    Must have mobility to attend meetings with managers and employees.
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0%–10% of the time.
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0%–10% of the time.
  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:
    Must write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
  • Sitting:
    Prolonged sitting while monitoring live or taped calls; may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating of calls.
