Position: Dean - School of Law, IILM - Greater
Role Overview
The Dean – School of Law will provide strategic academic, administrative, and operational leadership to the Law School. The Dean will be responsible for shaping the vision for legal education, ensuring academic excellence, fostering research and scholarship, strengthening industry linkages, and guiding faculty and students. This role calls for a distinguished legal scholar with strong leadership and governance capabilities, and a deep commitment to quality legal education.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
Provide vision and strategic direction for the School of Law in alignment with overall university goals.
Lead curriculum design, development, and continuous improvement of all law programs (LL.B., B.A. LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D., etc.).
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including regulations of Bar Council of India.
Promote interdisciplinary collaborations within the university and with external partners.
Faculty Management & Development
Recruit, develop, evaluate, and mentor faculty to support excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Build a strong faculty profile through talent acquisition and succession planning.
Facilitate faculty development programs, workshops, and research support initiatives.
Student Experience & Success
Enhance student academic performance, employability, and professional growth.
Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students.
Oversee moot court activities, clinical legal education, internships, and legal aid initiatives.
Research, Scholarship & Innovation
Foster a strong research culture; support publications, funded research projects, and academic conferences.
Encourage faculty participation in national and international research forums and collaborations.
Facilitate the establishment of research centers, think tanks, and policy initiatives.
Administration & Governance
Manage academic, financial, and administrative functions of the School of Law.
Formulate policies related to quality assurance, academic integrity, student conduct, and evaluation.
Chair academic committees and represent the School in university governance forums.
Industry & External Engagement
Build strategic partnerships with law firms, judiciary, corporate legal departments, and NGOs.
Expand opportunities for internships, placements, guest lectures, and executive/legal education programs.
Represent the School of Law in professional bodies, regulatory authorities, and academic conferences.
Compliance & Accreditation
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Lead inspections, audits, and reporting to external bodies such as University Grants Commission, Bar Council of India, and accreditation agencies.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
LL.B. with advanced legal qualifications (LL.M. and/or Ph.D. in Law from a reputed institution).
Proven record of scholarship and research, with publications in recognized legal journals.
Significant teaching and academic leadership experience in a law school or university environment.
Strong understanding of legal education frameworks and regulatory standards in India.
Desirable
Experience in curriculum design, accreditation processes, and academic governance.
Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and build institutional academic programs.
Exposure to international legal education standards and academic collaborations.
