Role and Responsibilities

With the task of overseeing all IT functions within the business, the IT Manager needs to have expert knowledge of the industry’s best practices and stay up to date with advances in technologies and industry standards. Their main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Aligning IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and goals
- Managing daily operations of network and server infrastructure
- Evaluating risk, developing network recovery and backup processes
- Assessing and purchasing new and replacement hardware
- Assuring that IT activities are within the limits of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Testing, troubleshooting and adjusting information systems to operate effectively
- Implementing security of the network, data and its storage and communication systems
- Engage closely with the rest of the Technology function to achieve stable, reliable and compliant technology services
- Provide escalation support for support teams, taking ownership in the resolution of issues
- Coach and develop other team members, passing on knowledge at appropriate levels to both junior and senior staff members – this is currently a team of 2 + 1 IT Manager
- Work with Technology and Business Unit leadership to develop the long-term vision for Data Centre technologies and solutions
- Drive/plan the migration to and adoption of cloud-based technologies and solutions
- Work with Technology and Business Unit leadership to develop the long-term vision for Data Centre technologies and solutions
- Able to design and implement IT processes from the ground up
- Drive innovation and operational excellence within set financial guidelines.

Skills & Experience:

- The design, deployment, and maintenance of VMware services
- Experience in configuration of Cloud services, such as AWS and Azure
- Providing IT administration and engineering services managing Windows Servers
- Configuration and support for firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
- Managing SAN and NAS storage solutions
- Securing and hardening of server environments, including managing access
- Planning and executing migrations from on-premises data centres to cloud
- Ability to multi-task and be creative in a dynamic, fast paced team environment
- Experience managing projects and leading initiatives with minimal direction throughout the project lifecycle
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Management implementation and operation
- A degree or postgraduate degree in IT, software engineering, or equivalent
- Certifications in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure ad/or AWS is highly desirable.

Good to have:

- Knowledge of ISO Audits
- Knowledge of IT Automation and Open-Source Tools
- Knowledge of File Systems (EMC, Nasuni , Nutanix etc.).
