The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Administrative Assistant 1 in Nome to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Responsibilities
  • Provides administrative and technical support for the Western District Maintenance and Operations office, including accounting, procurement, financial tracking, and airport administrative duties.
  • Assists the Administrative Assistant 3, District Superintendent, and Airport Manager with personnel actions, regulatory compliance, airport security training, and badging processes.
  • Prepares, codes, and tracks expenditures, time sheets, travel documents, and stock requests while maintaining organized financial and administrative records.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for the office—handling reception, correspondence, and communication with staff, contractors, and the public.
  • Completes special projects and reports, supports airport and maintenance operations, and provides coverage for lead office functions as needed.

Working Environment

This position is based in Nome, Alaska within the Western District. The daily work environment includes interactions with the Rural Airport Manager to assist with compliance-related issues such as safety reports and inspections. You will also collaborate with regional administrative staff on budget functions and regularly work with the finance division to manage invoices and payments. Additionally, you will coordinate stock requests and purchasing needs with the supply section.

This dynamic role requires teamwork and effective communication to support the region’s operations.
