Food Service Foreman – Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC), Nome, Alaska

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Food Service Foreman position at AMCC.

What You Will Be Doing

• Supervision of approximately 16 inmates in all aspects of preparation and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for approximately 115 inmates in a secure institutional setting.
• Train inmates in food preparation, cooking, sanitation, personal hygiene, safety, and correct use of institutional kitchen equipment in accordance with the State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation Food Code; includes preparation of special diets such as vegetarian, low cholesterol/low fat, diabetic, food allergy, finger food, and other medically-prescribed diets.
• Ensure security procedures are followed as they pertain to use and storage of knives and other sharps, foods, and contraband.
• Monitors and records total meals served, cost analysis reports; ensures food service operation is cost effective and within budget.
• Directs and/or receives checks, stores, distributes and tracks facility food service inventory; ensures ongoing training of kitchen staff.

Located in Nome, Alaska, Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates, both male and female. This position will be working closely around inmates and other staff on a daily basis.

Recruitment Difficulties

Starting salary may be approved up to Step C - $35.55, if criteria are met.
