Position: Juvenile Justice Counselor 1, On-Call (26N24001)

Nome Juvenile Probation is recruiting to fill an On-Call, Non-Permanent Juvenile Justice Counselor 1 position.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.
Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position will work some day, evening, and night shifts as well as on weekends and holidays. Work will be on‑call and sporadic. You will ensure the safety of youth awaiting transport to the nearest juvenile detention facility while in the Nome Probation Office during assigned shifts. You will occasionally perform escorts from Nome to other Youth Facilities in the State as well as residential treatment centers in and out of the State of Alaska.

Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is at the Nome Probation Office, located at 113 W Front St., Suite 215, Nome Alaska. As a Staff member, you will cover shifts at various times of day, with flexibility for extra hours as needed. At times, work is off‑site, such as escorts and air travel may be required at times.

Please Note: Juvenile Justice Counselor 1's are required to be on call and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional travel may be required.

Prior to initial appointment, successful candidates for the Juvenile Justice Counselor are subject to a background investigation, criminal record check, and medical examination to determine the essential duties of the position can be safely performed.
