Job Overview
Mechanical Maintenance and Test Engineer/Technician (m/f/d) at IABG
European Test Services (ETS) B.V. – a joint venture between Airbus and IABG – operates and maintains the European Space Agency (ESA) test centre in the Netherlands. ETS is looking for a skilled Mechanical Test and Maintenance Engineer / Technician to support mechanical testing operations of the facility. The candidate will report to the ETS Mechanical Technical Manager and play a key role in executing mechanical tests and ensuring overall success.
Responsibilities
Perform acoustic, vibration, shock, and mass‑property tests in accordance with test requirements, acting as test operator and leader of the test team.
Carry out and document preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment within the Mechanical Testing team’s scope.
Execute test preparation, including instrumentation.
Report deviations, lead investigations, and implement corrective actions for testing equipment.
Support facility maintenance, modifications and upgrades, liaising with suppliers and consultants and coordinating third parties on site.
Compile test and maintenance reports.
Cooperate with international customers and the test team on complex space programmes and industrial projects.
Contribute to continuous improvement by providing suggestions, participating in lesson‑learnt sessions, and reviewing and updating ETS documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or technical professional qualification.
Experience with mechanical test and measurement systems.
Strong knowledge of vibration and acoustic facilities used in mechanical testing of components, subsystems or systems.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and diagrams, with the ability to troubleshoot.
Ability to perform tasks independently according to applicable processes and requirements.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Willingness to work occasional shifts and Saturdays.
Targets
Ensure mechanical tests are performed according to plan and requirements. Maintain mechanical testing facilities per preventive schedule. Align test team for large system tests, lead non‑conformance investigations, and drive rapid troubleshooting.
