Job Title:

Resource Planner & Scheduler

Company:
Horizon Underground

Location:

Norco, CA (Onsite)

Hello,

I'm CH, the person currently in this role. I'm reaching out because I'm looking for a partner.

I'm on track to lead our new Customer Development team, but before I fully transition, we have a critical mission : to build our new central operations platform. I'll be working side‑by‑side with you to drive the day‑to‑day operations while we implement this new system together.

I'm going to skip the standard jargon and give you a straightforward description—we relish saying what we mean, simply.

We're Horizon Underground. We're a leader in the dry utilities' construction field, and we've built an incredible reputation for excellence and always honoring our word over the last 25+ years. We are based in Southern California and serve our customers wherever they need us. We have an amazing team (we call them our 007s) who build the critical underground infrastructure—telecom, electric, gas, and rail—that enables our society and help us all keep moving forward.

We are in our next phase of growth and impact. For us, that means investing in our people and giving our teams the enhanced tools and processes they need to deliver for our customers and the communities we serve. When they win, we all win.

That's where you come in.

Your Mission

This is a two-part role, but we'll be tackling it as a team. Your primary mission is to lead the build‑out of the "future" while we jointly manage the "now."

To be clear: for the first 6-8 months, we expect your focus to be ~75% strategic system implementation and 25% daily operational support. Your goal is to build the system that makes the daily work seamless.

Part 1:
Co‑lead the Nerve Center (The "Now")

You and I will work together as partners to manage the daily and weekly puzzle of scheduling all our crews, equipment, and materials. You'll be a central point of contact for our field and office teams, making sure everyone knows where they need to be and what they need to have. This operational work is the context for the change you will lead.

Part

2:
Be the Architect (The "Future")

This is the big one, and it's your primary objective. The tools and processes that got us here have been heroic—they've helped us grow from a subcontractor to a full-service provider. Now, we're ready to super‑charge our next phase of growth.

Our mission is to move from our current mix of systems and tools to a single, unified platform. We've chosen our core platform:
Procore. You will be the champion, teacher, and lead architect for the implementation, helping us accelerate the adoption of this powerful system. Your goal is to help us achieve a near‑real‑time single source of truth, connecting our field and office operations on one platform. This is about taking what we do well and making it even better, preparing us to scale with our customers.

What

You'll Be Doing
  • The Project:
Lead the full, hands‑on implementation and adoption of the Procore platform, starting with its resource management, planning, and scheduling tools.
  • The People:
Coach, train, and patiently guide our 007s in the field and office on how to use the new tools. This is a people challenge as much as a tech one.
  • The Process:
Work with the entire team—from the field to the office—to replace our manual processes and build smarter digital workflows that enable us to scale with our customers. You will help us stop doing what does not add value to the mission.
  • Daily:
Partner with me, CH to own the master schedule and manage the logistics for all our crews, coordinating with foremen, superintendents, and the rest of the operations team. As the new system comes online, you will gradually take full ownership of this function.
This Job Is for You If...
  • You are a master of logistics. You see scheduling as a complex puzzle, and you love solving it.
  • You are a patient teacher. You understand that people are busy and that change can be hard.
  • You are not a fan of jargon. You communicate clearly, simply, and directly.
  • You're tech‑savvy, but practical. You're not just excited by new software; you're excited by what it can do to fix real‑world problems.
  • You are a…
