A family-rooted food manufacturer is hiring a Cost Accountant / Pricing & Margin Analyst to join its operation in Norcross, GA. This role is essential in managing product costs and margins for all customers and SKUs. The individual will ensure accurate pricing, a thorough understanding of costs, and the safeguarding of margins amid fluctuations in ingredient prices and production conditions. The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with operations teams rather than solely focusing on spreadsheets.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a small team environment and possess a detail‑oriented mindset. This role offers meaningful visibility across core functions and the opportunity to influence key financial decisions.
- Build and maintain cost models for all SKUs.
- Track actual versus standard costs and explain variances.
- Monitor yields, scrap, rework, and loss by line and shift.
- Identify sources of margin leakage and analyze contributing factors.
- Analyze labor, overhead, and equipment costs by plant.
- Compare batch versus continuous production economics.
- Normalize costs across different packaging formats.
- Support depreciation and equipment cost roll‑ups.
- Track key commodity trends and market indexes.
- Model the impact of ingredient price changes on margins.
- Use historical data to support pricing and contract decisions.
- Create cost models for new products and customer bids.
- Support pricing for current customers and RFPs.
- Partner with purchasing on forward buys and inflation impacts.
- Provide real‑time profitability insights to leadership.
- Work within ERP systems to improve BOMs, routings, and labor allocations.
- Prepare margin reports, cost bridges, and summaries for leadership.
- Experience in food manufacturing is required, with a preference for protein processing.
- 5‑10+ years of experience in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and cost of goods sold.
- Comfortable working closely with operations teams.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Power BI is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems is required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
