General Summary
The BY YOUR SIDE Occupational Therapist (OT) collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to create and maintain therapy plans that address sensory processing, attention, executive functioning, fine motor, gross motor, self‑help, ADLs, adaptive play, and leisure skills. Oversight for OT direct services is provided by the Manager – Speech and Occupational Therapy. The OT defines goals, collects data, establishes treatment plans, communicates with families, and implements skills learned during trainings while adhering to company goals and policies.

Frequently reaches with hands and arms; occasionally stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Must lift or move up to 10 lb frequently, up to 25 lb often, and up to 50 lb occasionally. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
Work HoursFull‑time position, also accepting Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA). Hours vary based on client needs.

- Participate in the initial multidisciplinary evaluation process to assess new clients.
- Evaluate, create, and maintain comprehensive therapy plans for each client.
- Provide individual and group therapy focusing on fine/gross motor, sensory processing, feeding, and social skills.
- Educate caregivers on helpful therapy approaches and in‑home strategies to facilitate skill generalization.
- Implement a team‑based, collaborative approach to therapy planning and implementation.
- Maintain current Illinois license, NBCOT certification, and required CEH hours.
- Adhere to AOTA and ILOTA ethical standards and HIPAA compliance.
- Supervise support personnel (COTAs, OTAs) and interns when necessary.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Provide a minimum of 32 hours of therapy per week.
- Maintain timely professional documentation of clinical notes for direct patient care.
- Complete documentation for pre-authorizations, initial evaluations, assessments, insurance reports, and progress reports.
- Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
- State‑licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Must complete and maintain CPI training certification (will train on site).
- CPR/First Aid certified or will train on site.
- Knowledge of discipline‑specific assessment tools and procedures.
- Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and independent therapy delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
- Strong time‑management, multitasking, prioritizing, and quality‑delivery skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
