Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor is responsible for all daily manufacturing activities, ensuring that delivery schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and a safe, positive work environment is upheld. The role supervises manufacturing personnel across all facets of production, leveraging extensive experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals.
Minimum Education RequiredBachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing management (MBA preferred).
Minimum Experience Required3+ years in manufacturing leadership in progressive roles; 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Six‑sigma Green/Black Belt Certification and Lean Certification a plus
- Knowledge of the Fiber Optic Industry desirable
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and problem resolution skills
- Preferred SAP experience
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to use data for continuous improvement
- Schedule personnel to maximize daily labor costs and meet production scheduling requirements.
- Manage overtime, paid time off, and training needs.
- Ensure all scheduled machines operate efficiently and within guidelines.
- Meet critical KPIs such as scrap reduction, safety, First Pass Yield, OEE, and OTD.
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly TPM, 6S audits and standard work.
- Enforce company and plant policies, ensuring fair and consistent disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate with Planning, Procurement, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality to meet production demands.
- Communicate issues and concerns with shift supervisors, operations managers, and other stakeholders.
- Confirm equipment readiness and report non‑compliances to Maintenance Management.
- Assist with diagnosis and correction of machine, product, and paperwork problems.
- Conduct root‑cause analyses using 8‑Step and 5‑Whys methodologies.
- Prepare safety reports and notify relevant management when accidents occur.
- Maintain shift performance reports and support inventory needs at month‑end.
- Develop leads and operators, promoting growth and skill development.
