Forklift Operator role at SA Recycling

• Observe processing operations to detect malfunctions and notify maintenance of any issues.
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually or using hoists.
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Safely clean equipment when jams occur.
• Follow all procedures such as LOTOTO, Fall Prevention, and Fire Prevention.
• Clean up the work area at the end of the shift and keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Ensure regular attendance and punctuality.
• Organize materials to optimize space usage.
• Dispose of various waste materials in an appropriate manner.
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed and maintain effective housekeeping for safety and hygienic conditions.

• Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed qualified and are grandfathered into their positions.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
• Bi-lingual English & Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand directions (written or oral), and perform basic math as required.

Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Work Environment:
  Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard.
• Equipment and Tools:
  Shredder and other metal processing equipment, hoists, hydraulic motors, and mechanic's tools.
• Physical Demand Level: Light to Moderate.
• Work Capacity:
  Shredder Operator – Work capacity (as required).
• Sensory Demands:
  Hearing, vision, touch, smell, and taste.
• Hand Movements:
  Repetitive motions and gripping.
